Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Turning Pointe has a number of volunteer opportunities ranging from administrative office work, to fundraising events, and crisis intervention. We would be happy to find a commitment that fits your schedule and area of interest!

Volunteer opportunities at Turning Pointe are generally divided into two main categories: indirect-service opportunities and direct-service opportunities.

Indirect-service volunteer positions support the agency at a staff or program level without bringing you into direct contact with survivors of domestic violence; they generally do not require any special training and can be short-term or long-term commitments. Examples of indirect-service volunteer opportunities include:

• Office assistance
• Fundraising or event support
• PR and communications
• Board & committee membership
• Gardening, organizing or cleaning at the shelter
• Shelter and building maintenance

Direct-service volunteer positions involve working directly with survivors of domestic violence or their children. Direct-service volunteers will need to complete a minimum of 20 hours of initial basic training. These trainings are offered by Turning Pointe at certain times of the year. • Answering Turning Pointe’s crisis line
• Facilitating survivor support groups
• Working with survivors in Turning Pointe’s programs
